@Lancelot

Made no difference.

Don't worry about it, I found that AOEMI works very well

AOEMI Partiton Standard is able to resize the partition on my test system and so does Acronis.

So it seems that there may be some issue with APM on Win10PESE

Hello

Resize is also grayed out in APM 3.5

I can't answer your question, but I can tell you that reverting to 14393 resolved my error

Questions and Support / Active Partition Manager 5
« on: May 22, 2017, 01:19:52 AM »
Hello,

I have installed this plugin on Win10PESE and while the plugin does not report any errors in the log.

The partition resize option is greyed out in the application.

I can resize partitions on the test system with Acronis, so I think it's something to do with Active Partition Manager.

I was wondering whether anyone else has Active Partition Manager 5 installed on their build and can advise whether resize is available

Thank you

OK it looks like the build might be the problem

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_10_version_history#PC_version_history

I've seen a post which says that 14393 is supported - and 14393 = Redstone1

Win10PE SE HomePage / Critical Process Died
« on: May 20, 2017, 09:34:44 PM »
Hello,

So when I test my first build in VirtualBox I get Critical Process Died

I'd appreciate any suggestions about how to troubleshoot this error.

One question that I have is that I'm not sure if I'm using the correct ISO (which I have extracted) for the build.

The release page recommends using https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-iso-download-tool which I have done. But when it runs it's not entirely clear (or at least it wasn't for me) which ISO I should download.

So what I have used is:
Windows 10 - Redstone 2 - March 2017
Home / Pro
64 bit

If I have stuffed up here, where should I have looked, because I did spend sometime trying to find instruction on which version I should be downloading.

Cheers

Win8PE SE HomePage / Re: Startup hanging at desktop build

Hello,

So I want to try and troubleshoot this further

Is it possible to create a log at boot time that I can write to C:\ on the target system or is my only option to disable all the plugins and try boot with a "vanilla" build and then slowly add plugins.

In fact if I have to go the "vanilla" path, that won't be entirely possible as I need to add drivers for the target hardware so I will need to leave that plugin enabled

Thanks

Win8PE SE HomePage / Startup hanging at desktop build
« on: April 19, 2017, 01:39:44 PM »
Hello,

I have a Win8PESE build that I have which works in a VM and that I have used successfully on certain systems (i.e. booted OK on some physical systems)

Yesterday I had a situation where I'm confident that I had the necessary drivers for the target hardware (Dell Optiplex 790) and yet when the ISO reached "Setting up personalised settings for Themes setup" the startup hung

Eventually a Shell Swapper window appeared (which I have never seen before - see attached) but it was unresponsive

So I'm hoping for some ideas on what could be causing this behaviour - or what I can try to troubleshoot

Thank you

The answer was not the location of the plugins but

Quote
Reminder 1:
Use or test plugins under your project folder.
On builder tree, do not test or run plugins under "MyPlugins Direct"

OK well I have at least got the project working again.

It seems that when specifying the source, you must have the Win8PE SE highlighted on the left-hand side.

If you don't have Win8PE SE highlighted, it can appear that you're specifying the source for the project - but in reality you may not be.

I thought that issue with the project not building had to be fairly simple, still it is a relief to have it resolved.

Once the build completes I'll return to trying to figure out why my new plugin doesn't run without error.

First test will be moving the plugin to Apps - same as @Prz42

it worked with no errors except for the copy the folder to target, since
there is no files in the script directory.
@Prz42

This is useful feedback, it is interesting that you're not seeing the RegHiveLoad error that I am seeing.

I wonder whether I have the plugin in the wrong place. I am using:
C:\Win8PE\Projects\MyPlugins_Direct\AppsMy\HD Tasks\Imaging\Shadow_v5.05

Apart from this plugin I am using Utils\Update Win8PESE (Exact and Secure) and all the other plugins are have been downloaded from AppYGS or TweaksY so my setup should be a supported config.

After some more testing ....

There appears to be some issue with the entire project.

I tried moving the Project from the F: drive (e.g. F:\Win8PE) to the C: drive (C:\Win8PE) as I wondered whether that might help.

Now when I build (i.e. Play) there aren't any errors, but the project stops after a few seconds instead of running around 70 plugins. So somehow I have broken something.

Log file attached

@Lancelot

This is a rewrite of a new plugin from scratch with the intention of using it in the MyPlugins_Direct section, so that it won't interfere with any of the downloaded plugins.

I've taken a plugin shell and then tried to add in the sections that I need. So this is not the old script.

In simple terms I need to copy files and add a couple of registry entries.

For the registry entries I have studied some working plugins and that is the code that they use.

The line looks ok. The error could be caused by the hive still being mounted by a previous plugin and not unmounted properly.
Unfortunately this is not the issue, as I am seeing this error when I run the plugin stand-alone to troubleshoot.

If there isn't an obvious answer I'll try using another plugin as the starting point.

Thanks

Questions and Support / RegHiveLoad - Failed to load registry hive

Hello,

I am getting this error with a plugin that I am writing

Code: [Select]
[Failed]  (Shadow-505.script Imaging: ShadowProtect v5.05) RegHiveLoad - Failed to load registry hive: [Tmp_Software] From file: [%target_sys%\config\software]: Unknown error

I have compared the syntax of the reghiveload command in question with a couple of other plugins that work and the code appears to be identical, so I'm not sure what the issue is (I assume that there is some earlier code which I'm missing that I need).

I've included an extract of the main code of the plugin. I'm aware that there is another ShadowProtect plugin available, but it has different requirements to what I already have plus I have another plugin with the same issue. So fixing this plugin will allow me to resolve a couple of issues.

A fix would be great or a pointer to how I can identify the issue would be fine as well.

Plugins / Re: Acronis Disk Director 12
« on: February 04, 2017, 06:39:50 PM »
OK well good news the plugin is finally working for me  :great:

A little bit of an explanation for those who happen to encounter an issue with DiskDirector.exe in the future.

As @Lancelot pointed out, my WinPE64.zip did not contain DiskDirector.exe - I was somewhat annoyed by this as I wasted a stack of time because the supplied file was wrong. So initially I followed Lancelot's instructions to obtain the WinPE file from the trial so that I could find out where the DiskDirector file should be. I then modified the supplied ZIP file and added DiskDirector.exe into the Files directory. Surprisingly (to me at least) the plugin still complained about the fact that DiskDirector.exe was missing.

So in the end I just nuked the original WinPE file and used the one from the trial version. Which the plugin was happy with.

Thanks again to @Lancelot and @Prz42

Hi VeeDub,

I get your pm, and I see there is no DiskDirector.exe inside your WinPE64.zip

no surprise Acronis Disk Director plugin fails without DiskDirector.exe

It is %100 end user fault. Something naturally happens time to time with "Provide File" type plugins
@Lancelot

Thanks for looking into this for me.

For the record I did not "build" the WinPE64.zip file, I copied the file from C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\DiskDirector\WinPE

so the issue in this instance was that the provided file did not have the correct contents

Thanks

With version 18 you do not need to put any files in - Provide Files and - Import Installed Key
if you have installed Acronis DD 12 and is functional and licensed

Hi,

I deleted the plugin and re-downloaded

Same error

pm me your WinPE64.zip (dropbox etc) so I can test plugins here with your WinPE64.zip tonight or tomorrow...

Hi,

I'm not sure that I can send PM's, as after sending it, there were no entries in sent messages.
