Win7PE SE HomePage / Re: Explore network path under Win7PESE

Hi 2aCD,

Thanks for the reply. I suppose that to fix this we have to "inject" some change on Explorer or loaded dll but this is out of my league!

I also found that we don't need to use Explorer to get the credential window it also work inside the Run Box if we click browse and use the address bar on top of the browse window.

Did more testing and if we change the user used on WinPE from System to Administrator using the option available on the xDisplay script then the run box works fine. It seems the problem is somehow related with having SYSTEM permissions.

Win7PE SE HomePage / Explore network path under Win7PESE
« on: January 09, 2017, 12:05:15 PM »

I have been trying to find if it's possible to access network paths on Win7PE without the need of mapping a drive to the network share first.

I'm posting my findings so others can contribute and eventually we could find the solution for the problem I have found.

On my test if I try to directly access a network path from the Run box the result is this:

What I found is that if the file networkexplorer.dll doesn't exist on the system32 folder, instead of the error above it works as in normal windows and we get a prompt for the user and password to access the protected network share but after authenticated successfully we get the error Windows cannot access \\192...

Now the curious part (for me) is, if instead of using the Run box I open the Computer icon and use the address bar to access the network path like show in the next image it works properly showing the credentials prompt and browsing the shared folder without any problem!

Edit: After a successful login the run box can then be used to access the network share including other shares on the same host.
If I try to access a different share on another machine from the run box it will fail again with the same error and the workaround with the Computer window must be used again for the new network path.

Information about the options used on the project:
- 1 - Copy Files: Standard
- 5 - µExplorer Shell with networkexplorer.dll and NetworkExplorer.dll.mui added to system32 and System32\en-US\ respectively

The result of my tests don't change if I use the 1 - Explorer Shell script instead of µExplorer Shell.

Anyone have ideas to fix this and makes the run box work as it should?

Thanks hason_sonha_itt for sharing the instructions.

Hi Lancelot,

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't need it anymore.

I did a mistake in one of my scripts and loaded the filter on the wrong category  :embarrassed: after realizing that both programs are working fine now.

Only the question about the portable Acronis remain...

Hi Welcome to TheOven,

Take a look at the PENetwork using a custom PENetwork.ini you can add Netword Drives to auto connect.

Thanks Lancelot :great:

I found my notes from last year, where Anshad explained to me that Acronis can run almost as a portable program, as long as you copy the correct files (sys, dll) to %windir%\system and %windir%\system\drivers, and then manually create and start the services. I must admit I almost competely forgot about that possibility

Hi Atari800xl,

Any chance of sharing the notes about running Acronis almost portable? or a plug-in  :embarrassed:

I have a problem with my WinPE with conflicting UpperFilters from two different programs AOMEI Backupper and Seagate DiskWizard maybe your method can help me solving the conflict.

Hi guys,

I'm building a PE with the latest AOMEI Backupper Standard v3.5 and found a bug on the AOMEI Backupper Standard (G) plug-in v.12

On the line that writes the UpperFilters on the registry there is an extra "," without the filter the program can't do backups

Code: [Select]

The extra "," between Append and Tmp_System needs to be removed.

After the correction I can confirm that the 3.5 version of the program works fine.

Hi Galapo,

Take your time. In the end I decided to create a small script to change the resolution early on boot.

Yes I know about time constrains. You guys work in so many projects that probably have days with more than 24 hours

Hi Rui Paz,

unpack macro still there to support old plugins, never listed as a macro
one day it will be totally removed from Macro Library

It's available when you right click inside Winbuilder source editor under MacroLibrary and in this case used on a plug-in included on the main project and downloaded directly from the project server.

I will put optional hide parameter to get window hidden

I feel something like:

Hi Lancelot,
Yes it is a known problem,
 yet another bug of winbuilder

To simplify code writing, we have Call,Download for a while
Code: [Select]

I see but in that case doesn't the Macro_Library needs an update?
The BGinfo script already use the Unpack macro and its the macro internally that calls WebGet instead of a new macro that uses wget directly

Also maybe I'm reading this wrong but with the Download_Files_Wget macro the wget window is always visible... maybe another macro needed!

Win7PE SE HomePage / Winbuilder Webget problem??
« on: August 30, 2015, 08:52:19 AM »
Hello Guys,

Not sure if this is a know problem because I couldn't find nothing on my search.

Running the BGInfo script for example the download of fails with this:
Code: [Select]
WebGetIfNotExist -  [] to directory: [%BaseDir%\Workbench\Common\BGInfo\] HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized

I don't think is as problem with the URL or the server because I got the same result testing with WebGet on a different server where I have full access and I know there isn't any browser restrictions when downloading.

Also this isn't a firewall problem because the Winbuilder download button can access the server and download files just fine.

My host is running Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 and the Win7PE_SE project is set to build a x86 PE.

I can download the need file or change the script to use wget on the tools folder but also want to know if this is a know problem?

Hi Chris,

By the way there is a little error in the default pecmd.ini included on the script

Code: [Select]
LOGS% %WinDir%\System32\Pecmd.log

it should be
LOGS %WinDir%\System32\Pecmd.log

//uncomment the next line to create the pecmd log for debug purposes
//LOGS %WinDir%\System32\Pecmd.log

Hi Lancelot,

ps: If anyone know any other app like Mouse Jiggler that does not require .net let me know

Maybe Caffeine?

Hi Galapo,

I'm trying to use your SetResolution tool in my WinPE7SE build but I want to use it during boot to set the screen resolution before loading the Shell (I know I always do strange things  )

I'm running the tool from Win7PE.cfg [postconfig]
Code: [Select]
wait|SetResolution|x:\windows\setresolution.exe -hide -r1024x768x32 -exit

The tool starts fine but it doesn't exit! and the boot process only continues if I press ctrl+shift+E to close SetResolution (I know I can use nowait but I don't want to keep the tool running)

What I'm doing wrong?

By the way it would be useful if the -output parameter in the help say something about creating a debug log besides writing supported resolutions...

Can you help me.

Edit: After more testing I found that the program only respects the command line arguments and auto close if the file SetResolution.ini exists in the same folder as the exe with the option:
Code: [Select]

Hi Chris,

You can learn how to execute all that tasks using PECMD studing the W7PEX posted by Amalux on
check W7PEX (bld128) this project use PECMD as shell and also is the tool used to set screen resolution, Links, Pins, etc

I started studing this project long time ago before Win7PE_SE it uses a different CAPI that generates the needed configuration for pecmd.ini

Good news ,

with great help of my chinese friends , i have solved the issue of creating shortcuts from PECMD.INI , while loading pe , as well as after loading PE.  :great:

PECMD can mount WIM files on the fly as well as while on desktop. (ofcourse core wim files are needed like WIMGAPI for this function ) . and later on , shortcuts are created.

if someone needs , i will post the details. (it involves a minor registry editing ,thats it).

Hi Maanu,

Please post all the info about PECMD i'm also studing what this tool can do and all examples in English would help.

please see this

Thanks Maanu i already download that samples.

Gena Plugins / Gena and LiveXP scripts compatibility?
« on: October 31, 2011, 12:43:38 PM »

I have a LiveXP project downloaded long time ago from bootland, so far this project has molded to fulfill the tasks i need in my work.
Last week started working on a cluster with Dell servers and found that it doesn't work and i need to rebuild my LiveXP using Windows Server 2003 as source because of the SAS Controller used on the servers.

Because my problem has related to the Mass Storage i decide to take a look to the DPs Mass Storage script included on Gena, the script is newer so i decide to use it on my LiveXP project. After some testing i realize the script is no longer compatible with the LiveXP project because it read some vars from IniVariables on the project.script and this section doesn't exist on my project.

The DPs-MassStorageDrivers.script can be probably adapted to work on the LiveXP project without big work but i decide not to do it, only decide to post about this only to alert about possible incompatibilities when creating scripts for PE 1.x projects.

It seems i need to find some time to model the Gena project to my need :)
