Win7PE SE HomePage / Error on the ?-Explorer.script
« on: January 26, 2017, 06:47:21 AM »

Both scripts 1-explorer.script and 5-explorer.script include the bellow line in more than one place
Code: [Select]
FileCopy,%ProjectTemp%\User.bmp,"%TargetDir%\ProgramData\Microsoft\User Account Pictures"

The problem is that the folder User Account Pictures doesn't exist so actually this creates a file named User Account Pictures instead of the user.bmp inside the folder!

Because of this if we enable the Advanced option Enable 'switch user to Admin' on the Display script the build will fail with the error
(xDisplay.script) DirMake - Failed to create directory: [%BaseDir%\Target\Win7PESE\ProgramData\Microsoft\User Account Pictures]: Cannot create a file when that file already exists

I traced the problem to the Explorer script, the error isn't created by the xDisplay script, its the explorer script that creates the file instead of checking if the folder actually exists.

To be on the safe side probably is better to update all the scripts to check the existence of the folder and if is missing create it or...

Win7PE SE HomePage / PluginManger not working correctly!?
« on: January 26, 2017, 06:26:54 AM »

Just did an Update of my Win7PE SE using the Update Win7PESE (Exact and Secure) script before I did this I use the PluginManager to backup my configuration (41 tasks when I hit the Play button)

After the update pressing the Play button now shows 61 tasks selected instead of 41!

Also after the update the PluginManager didn't show the configuration I saved before, found it after hitting the Refresh button on the Restore panel, did the restore and got the expected 41 tasks selected. It seems the auto backup and restore done by the Update plugin isn't doing the job correctly!

Another thing I notice, there is a new plug-in for "A0MEI Backupper Standard & Pro v4.0.0.0" on the server (that's why I use the update feature) after the update the "A0MEI Backupper Standard & Pro - Plugin Download" description isn't updated to match the new version that will be downloaded!

Maybe I'm missing something on this last part but it seems the Download plugin needs a description update...

Win7PE SE HomePage / Explore network path under Win7PESE
« on: January 09, 2017, 12:05:15 PM »

I have been trying to find if it's possible to access network paths on Win7PE without the need of mapping a drive to the network share first.

I'm posting my findings so others can contribute and eventually we could find the solution for the problem I have found.

On my test if I try to directly access a network path from the Run box the result is this:

What I found is that if the file networkexplorer.dll doesn't exist on the system32 folder, instead of the error above it works as in normal windows and we get a prompt for the user and password to access the protected network share but after authenticated successfully we get the error Windows cannot access \\192...

Now the curious part (for me) is, if instead of using the Run box I open the Computer icon and use the address bar to access the network path like show in the next image it works properly showing the credentials prompt and browsing the shared folder without any problem!

Edit: After a successful login the run box can then be used to access the network share including other shares on the same host.
If I try to access a different share on another machine from the run box it will fail again with the same error and the workaround with the Computer window must be used again for the new network path.

Information about the options used on the project:
- 1 - Copy Files: Standard
- 5 - µExplorer Shell with networkexplorer.dll and NetworkExplorer.dll.mui added to system32 and System32\en-US\ respectively

The result of my tests don't change if I use the 1 - Explorer Shell script instead of µExplorer Shell.

Anyone have ideas to fix this and makes the run box work as it should?

Win7PE SE HomePage / Winbuilder Webget problem??
« on: August 30, 2015, 08:52:19 AM »
Hello Guys,

Not sure if this is a know problem because I couldn't find nothing on my search.

Running the BGInfo script for example the download of fails with this:
Code: [Select]
WebGetIfNotExist -  [] to directory: [%BaseDir%\Workbench\Common\BGInfo\] HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized

I don't think is as problem with the URL or the server because I got the same result testing with WebGet on a different server where I have full access and I know there isn't any browser restrictions when downloading.

Also this isn't a firewall problem because the Winbuilder download button can access the server and download files just fine.

My host is running Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 and the Win7PE_SE project is set to build a x86 PE.

I can download the need file or change the script to use wget on the tools folder but also want to know if this is a know problem?

Gena Plugins / Gena and LiveXP scripts compatibility?
« on: October 31, 2011, 12:43:38 PM »

I have a LiveXP project downloaded long time ago from bootland, so far this project has molded to fulfill the tasks i need in my work.
Last week started working on a cluster with Dell servers and found that it doesn't work and i need to rebuild my LiveXP using Windows Server 2003 as source because of the SAS Controller used on the servers.

Because my problem has related to the Mass Storage i decide to take a look to the DPs Mass Storage script included on Gena, the script is newer so i decide to use it on my LiveXP project. After some testing i realize the script is no longer compatible with the LiveXP project because it read some vars from IniVariables on the project.script and this section doesn't exist on my project.

The DPs-MassStorageDrivers.script can be probably adapted to work on the LiveXP project without big work but i decide not to do it, only decide to post about this only to alert about possible incompatibilities when creating scripts for PE 1.x projects.

It seems i need to find some time to model the Gena project to my need :)

Gena Support / About xnetwok script
« on: August 21, 2011, 06:23:31 AM »

Any one is using this script?

My OS and Windows source is both Windows XP Pro Sp3 EN, i'm using Driver Import PE AE to load network drivers pack (.7z).
First time i tried this script i notice i can't use ipconfig on the console because some dll's are missing, this was fixed by Nikzzzz on the last...
Using the last version ipconfig isn't working for me and gives me this error:

After digging around i found that the files netmscli.inf and nettcpip.inf are corrupted after the inf patching process, it seems related with the ANSI and Unicode handling on Autoit.

Can someone confirm this problem?

In my case i fix this changing the au3 script and using AU3361.exe from the tools\x86 folder...

Development and code snippets / BLExactServer Suggestion
« on: August 20, 2011, 07:43:50 AM »

I have another suggestion this time to BLExactServer, it would be nice if during the download besides having the file name the program is downloading also have the information about the total files to download / current file or the other way current_file/total_files.

Based on the ini content with the files to get its seems this can be easily done. What you think Lancelot?

Gena Support / Driver Import PE AE needs correction
« on: August 10, 2011, 10:39:23 AM »

Found a little error on this script line 195: If,Not,ExistFile,%target_sys%\7za.exe,FileCopy,%tools%\7za.exe,%Target_Prog%\%ProgramFolder%

it should be If,Not,ExistFile,%target_sys%\7za.exe,FileCopy,%tools%\7za.exe,%Target_sys%
because Driver Import PE needs the file 7za.exe on the system32 folder.

Only a suggestion, the tool could get the parent process pid (Winbuilder) and auto exit if this process is gone...

Gena Support / [Solved] Booting Gena WIM file from PXE Server Problem
« on: March 09, 2011, 06:56:55 AM »
Hello all,

Its my first post here, so be gentle to me :)

Because i use all those boot tools booting from a PXE server (TFTP32) i decide to test if the wim generated by Gena can boot this way also...

On my test this fail with a BSOD shortly after showing the Windows XP logo, STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78AE580, 0xC0000034, 0x00000002,0x0)
At first i suspect it could be something related to the mass storage drivers needed for some new machines i'm using but then i decide to try booting using a clean image without DPS on a old P4 with a IDE drive that doesn't need any special driver, this also fail.

I start comparing my working LiveXP project with Gena, found exactly the same DPS mass storage package, probably not a DPS problem...
Another test comparing the txtsetup.sif file on both projects they are very different!!, decided to replace the txtsetup.sif from LiveXP on Gena..., booting from CD gives me error about BIOSINFO.INF missing on i386\system32, added this file and bum the resulting image boots fine from XPE after this changes.

Is this normal? i mean txtsetup.sif shouldn't be very similar to the one generated on LiveXP specially if both project have the same driver packs added?

Thanks to Lancelot for let me in.
