Started again from scratch to C:\Winbuilder:

Downloaded fresh copy of 7-30-15 distro from ChrisR link in forum note about WLAN failures.
I'm building x64 Win10PESE on Lenovo desktop with Windows 10.

Selected all components exc Calc and Snipping Tool. Selected 3 SourceDisk folders.
Told it to use and autodetect pre-extracted WIM files (since I had these available from previous builds)
Standard filecopy. Original macrolibrary is 42.39.
There is no SAFE & SECURE Utility available at this point.

I did a trial build without checkboxing ISO or WriteMedia to USB. No errors.
Still no SAFE & SECURE Utility at this point, so I did the upper righthand corner DOWNLOAD button.

Downloads things ... among them
Now you get SAFE & SECURE Utility
  Network driver is now v33
  Net driver is now v10

Did trial build of 53 stages. It failed , not finding SourceDisk.
Reselected 3 SourceDisk folders.
Set CopyFiles, advanced menu, to Add all install.wim) catalogue. Standard build.

Note macrolibrary is now v42.r116.

Added Marvel network drivers via checkbox.

Did build of 53 stages. Got error late in build that 7zip failed:
ExtractFile - Failed to expand file: [7z938-x64.msi] to: [%BaseDir%\Temp\Win10PESE\TempExtractFolder\7-Zip_x64]

7zip was one of the items that I had noticed being Updated.

So since both THIS winbuilder and the prev both had v44 of 7zip script, I copied the contents of the LAST KNOWN GOOD extracted files
folder (C:\Winbuilder\Temp\Win10PESE\TempExtractFolder\7-Zip_x64) including MSI file and 2 subfolders  to THIS current . No other changes.

Did rebuild. Definitely saw near start of build (probably stage 5) "Deleting C:\Winbuilder"  and sure enough once again the entire contents of C:\Winbuilder is gone, except for the winbuilder.INI and winbuilder.EXE of winbuilder [082], which were the Files In Use. It should NOT ever delete C:\Winbuilder. Only Target.

I estimate this is #7 of "Deleting C:\Winbuilder", 4 with original 7-30, 2 with 9-11, and now again with 7-30. Something about the UPDATES function ...
After I get Updates things go wrong.  So, when I start from scratch, I'll try to update individual scripts.

I am apparently the only one this happens to.

so I did the upper righthand corner DOWNLOAD button.
That is the trouble, winbuilder "Download" is a living bug, like all other bugs of winbuilder/bugbuilder.

As written at top of FAQ http://theoven.org/index.php?topic=834.0

Use

Utils\Update Win10PE SE (Exact and Secure)

to update any project

which would be with your words: "SAFE & SECURE"

:turtle:

And,
put/extract  all projects to a single folder,
like
D:\Oven

all projects have
Utils\Update XXX (Exact and Secure)
and designed from first day (years ago) to be used/updated inside single folder

As written at top of FAQ http://theoven.org/index.php?topic=834.0

I thought I had put in my step by step that, at least the 7-30 distro, there was NO Utility in the build to do ... Exact and Secure ... for updates.
You have to do the buggy first Download in order to get the Exact & Secure tool for 7-30  !

I was just looking to find where Deleting ...  is located.
In 0-preconfig.script, there are two places where directories get deleted. Somehow, "C:\Winbuilder" becomes the target. For me.

I haven't given up yet, but I am becoming paranoid ...

I agree, it is sad Chris miss that,
besides focusing on development of new project cause missings, which is ok.

One can also download manually through index
http://win10se.cwcodes.net/projectindex.php

Just made a default Win10PESE fresh build, all went ok here.

will respond other things when I come back,
 have fun on huntings :turtle:

Yes, I'd like to add in macrolibrary or wherever DirDelete is located, an exclusion to NOT accept "C:\Winbuilder" as a target variable name. For my own sake.  It has hit me 7 times with Win10PESE (never in Win7PESE by the way) and I was a real noob back thenhttp://theoven.org//Smileys/IPB/great.gif

Are you by chance selecting to write the media to C:\Winbuilder ??

in your case it should not read C:\winbuilder - but rather a USB/CD drive letter..
Just a thought... because write media WILL delete the folder contents...

Well, follow advices above,

it is not new somebody have trouble with right-top download button,
We can not say "mixture of different version of plugins work",
   instead,
"project on server, download and use it if you want"

Utils\...Exact and Secure
is there more than 5 years, it was initially designed to get exact copy of server to workaround winbuilder download button bug ;)
since than we use it to syncronise with server, also via Utils\...Exact and Secure plugin to end users.  :great:

and already written to FAQ which means "Frequently Asked Questions" where a good user should first check to see if there is already a solution / defination provided.

Still if end user wants to go on his way than adviced way, end user responsible  :great:

Time to go, have fun on hunt :turtle:

No, I was not trying to be a pain to anyone, nor do a writemedia to c:\winbuilder,  nor nonexistent L:  I was pointing out that there is a persistent issue I have run into: Win10PESE x64 periodically deletes itself. Not just once.  Seems to occur after Updates are done.

(I do have some experience and done  builds, perhaps 23 so far in Win10PESE.  But my Win7PESE x64 build now has 297 stages and does networking, Wifi, plays DVD and video with sound,  runs IceCream screen recorder, Photoshop 4 and old Visual Basic 5 apps, sends me email when the 1 hour build is about done. But not printing. Never could get that to work in Win7.  I still have a lot to learn for an old geezer, so I'm trying.)

The attraction for me in Win10PESE is automatically working with UEFI and MBR/BIOS computers and IT DOES. As long as I disable SecureBoot on a machine, I can still work fine in Win7PESE x64. But MSFT is locking that down as time marches on. My goal is, once SysWow64 is working in Win10PESE, to port everything over if I can.
=======================
Siginet was able to do WLAN services and networking with 7-30 distro as long as a number of scripts and macrolibrary got updated. I couldn't get that to work and didn't see how I could get individual scripts updated with out using UPDATES.

For now, I'll switch to the 9-11 distro, do Exact & Secure update and see how far I can get toward getting WLAN service and networking. In a rescue disc, I could probably live without networking and Wifi, but once you have it, as I did in Win7PESE x64, you want it all the time !

Again, thanks for all the work you guys have done, and to the posters on these forums.

Change "once" to "now that"

"WoW64 Basic" plugin is on Server now.

Win10PESE deleted itself again during 0-preconfig.script, where it usually acts up.

I had started fresh, installed 9-11 distro, did immediate update, ran build with base 47 stages ok, verified that WLAN services could Start.
then I Enabled 3 more, then the build of 50 stages DIED, taking everything except winbuilder.ini and winbuilder.exe again. No log files, but this time I captured the screen.

That's it for today!!!  Everything is lost.   When I restart, I am going to add code to 0-preconfig.script like this:

If,%TargetDir%,Equal,"C:\Winbuilder",Call,Echo,"SOMETHING REALLY WRONG: TRYING TO DELETE WINBUILDER",Warn,,MessageError,,Halt

If,%ISODir%\TargetImage\WIM,Equal,"C:\Winbuilder",Call,Echo,"SOMETHING REALLY WRONG: TRYING TO DELETE WINBUILDER",Warn,,MessageError,,Halt

The only reason I have my notes below is because I no longer keep it in C:\Winbuilder ! As you can see, WLAN service was finally able to start.

=========== Below: trying new tack: Do a fresh install, get updates ======================
BACKUP:  9/30/15 renamed c:\winbuilder with 7-30 distro to winbuilder4e again.

added:  Copied all unzipped files in 9-11-15 distro to new empty c:\winbuilder
added:  Before first build, ran utility for Exact & Secure update.
burned:  Sample test build with no WriteMedia nor ISO creations. Seems successful, 46 stages, 45 scripts processed.
  ENABLED:  CopyToUSBDeviceBCD script
   burned:  WPEX24 to SANDGLID1 in 47 stages (replacing WPEX21) as 9-11 build. boot.wim=523.4MB
tested:  WLAN service Manual, Stopped. Clicked Start ... and it did !!! Changed to Automatic from Manual. Need to fix this.
PENetwork only sees wired NIC. DevMgr does not show wifi NIC, so clicked on yellow exclamation point Network
Adapter, updated driver from X: repository, and wifi NIC shows as working. Exit PENETwork, and restart it then
can see wifi NIC in the drop down choice. WORKS! as I can see type of security on router.

ENABLED:  9/30/15 AdditionalFiles so I can leave shortcut on desktop. Added desktop shortcuts for HOSTS, Regedit,NOTES-WPEX.
ENABLED:  Remove wallpaper and DirextX scripts.
burned:  WPEX24 to SANDGLID1 in 50 stages (replacing WPEX24). Halted in 0-preconfig. something about ON EXIT is missing.
Before exiting, i checked and EVERYTHING IS GONE AGAIN except winbuilder.exe. Did screenshot.

that first error is a reference to ML command
first and second error says ML plugin not available anymore (deleted )
3rd error says script.project (Main Plugin) not available anymore (deleted)

I believe Tony4219 is right, something broke %TargetDir% or %ISODir% to %basedir%,
since error happens on 2nd line of MacroLibrary (at 1st line it was there, at second line MacroLibrary deleted),
but pictures are not enough to say which one, and no idea what could broke that.

@Tony4219

next time, click "save as log.html" seen on the picture (middle down), picture alone don't help much.
provide log_.....html
at least this will give info which one broken, but still which plugin broke that is another mystery.

I made 3 default builds on a clean folder, all went fine here,
also made 4th and 5th trials with  Copy to USB-Device BCD BootMGR
6th trial again with default build.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/22e1bbq6679vnhp/log_20150930_234315.7z?dl=0

I could not reproduce.... yet

Maybe you can catch :)

Lance,
I have been using the Download Button to update project almost daily for a few weeks now, no issues to report..
because you are around frequently these days,
and you are a focused end user who is familiar with working on such things,
when you go away for a while, and come back, you will face problems if you use that Download button
If you don't jump on the conventional way, Than you will remember Lance saying "use Utils\Update XXX Exact and Secure"  :great:

I use same base folder for years now  Conventional way loose lots of valuable time
