Win10 PE is great and I love this project... just have a quick question:

For me (only?) the show desktop function in Win10PE SE is not working, while the peek desktop works fine. It is also not possible to enable the show desktop option by right clicking the bottom right area (peek desktop shows enabled and works).

I searched the forum and the only hit I had was a note from August last year saying that this "would still now work"... nothing since then.

I know this is kind of a cosmetic issue, but as I am used to minimize windows using the mouse, I stumble accross this again and again.

I am very willing to help troubleshoot but am kind of lost on where to start from. Is there any chance that this will be addressed somewhen?

There are quite a few problems with the explorer shell in Win10PE.
If we had an idea how to fix them, it would be done already.

So no, I don't think there is much of a chance that this problem will be solved.

Hi JFX,

just for info, even "Show Desktop.scf" do not work  :wink:

Code: [Select]
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

deal with the origin windows explorer.exe is pain work, so i just copy 100 lines code from
my explorer project which is published in a Chinese forum to build a tiny toy --- WIND.exe

this is not full functional what windows explorer.exe does, but have some functions is better than none.

Show Desktop with:
  • WIN+D hotkey
  • Bottom right corner left mouse click

WIN+F12 will exit.

i don't deal with the "Show Desktop" menu on taskbar's contextmenu.
 i disable the visual effect animation when mininize the windows, because that cause the action move slowly.
(call as "WIND.exe 0" will disable this action if your PE has installed the  display card driver)

Winds.exe works for me.
Thank you.

To be sure it works Wind.exe must be in the last line of autorun.cmd.
I have put this in a level 8 script:
Code: [Select]
[Process]
If,ExistFile,%target_sys%\autorun.cmd,Begin
TXTDelLine,%target_sys%\autorun.cmd,exit
TXTAddLine,%target_sys%\autorun.cmd,"",Append
TXTAddLine,%target_sys%\autorun.cmd,wind.exe,Append
TXTAddLine,%target_sys%\autorun.cmd,"",Append
TXTAddLine,%target_sys%\autorun.cmd,exit,Append
End
[code]

Thanks for sharing. I was playing with a vbscript and some external tools to capture mouse Position...but your solution works perfectly.

Thank you slore and ChrisR. Plugin WORKS! :great:. I'm using slightly older distro (not 6/6 or 6/10).

Chinese PE friends found why the "show desktop" (Win+D and the tiny button on taskbar, at right ) did not work in Win10pe.
To fix it, we need to send a message 1466 to the "Shell_TrayWnd" handle, once the Taskbar is created.
It's better than wind.exe which worked well though, thanks Slore  :thumbsup:
And it is replaced now by a tiny PB program ShowDesktop.exe.
With an optional parameter -p :=Permanent to keep the process active, if needed (for eg: kill and restart explorer)

It is included in the Explorer plugin v48, on server. Once downloaded with other plugins updated, the "Tweaks\Show Desktop" plugin can be deleted.

It's not really our Chinese friend,  but noelblanc here in post #116 + http://theoven.org/index.php?topic=1639.msg23132#msg23132
Thanks to him for his nice finding  :great:
To avoid 2 exe running: ShowDesktop and FixScreen, JFX has edited fixscreen.exe, right now, to have the 2 in 1. Good, Thanks  :thumbsup:
So I will make some adjustments, soon.
