I can not see the mouse cursor before the shell

For example, before running the shell, run PENM first to select a profile or ...
I have to run my application to make a selection, but I can not see the mouse cursor, so I can not do it.

But when I move my mouse and press the button ... I can not see the cursor, but the mouse is working.

Could you make the cursor visible before the shell runs?

Have a nice day

Hello Lancelot

I am a beginner user of "TheOven".

I use WIn7pe SE, Win10PE SE for my work.
I have been a "guest" member on this website.
It has also always been a great help to me ..

However, I had difficulty upgrading 7PE to 10PE.

One of the problems is the post below on the "Win10" bulletin board in the "Win10PE SE HomePage" that I asked for in this forum.

"I can not see the mouse cursor before the shell"

However, I think that the position of the question board is inappropriate
So I tried to delete it, but I do not know how to delete it.

"Report to moderator" button, but I did not answer the question.

I would be grateful if you could help me how to do it.

Lancelot, seems to be doing a lot of activity, so I send this message.

Thank you

Hi gemhero,

I get your pm,

Well this part of project is out of my current knowledge.

Just an idea:
download plugin:
\Downloads\ComponentsY\Tweak\Mouse Tweak

Disable "Hide Cursor while typing" option on plugin

Make your build, see if this helps.

Tip:

Well you have to wait until Chris is back.

On a normal Windows 8+ PE, the mouse cursor is hidden until winpeshl.exe enables it.
The Startup of our WinPE's got a bit to much complexity to just make a small change without breaking something.

Is there really the need to call PENM before shell?

I really appreciate your advice.

I tried to tell you
But I did not get good results.

As JFX said, it seems to be not easy on Windows 8pe or later.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Thank you JFX too ..

Yes, I understand.
The normal OS is also hidden until you log in.

PENM is an example to illustrate.

I think this ...
PE is not a normal OS because ...

In other words, when the OS of the user has a problem. It is thought that an administrator is an environment to help general users.

Also, it would be nice if an advanced user had the option to create his own PE and run it with different options on different PCs.

In order to do this, it seems like you need something like a choice before the shell starts (before showing everything).

This is one of the ways to use WinPE.

As JFX said, I understand the complexity of changing the small one without breaking the existing something at the start of WinPE.

However, when using PE as a tool (repair / install / etc) it seems to be a necessary part.

Because, From the manager's point of view, users can not use the tools well.

This is my personal opinion on WinPE

If I can implement one small plugin without changing other things .. ^^

I am very happy that I can always use good WinPE because of the efforts of people here.  :great:

Always be healthy and happy.

That's right.I asked. and I want
This is my personal message to ChrisR. It seems to be an answer to that.

----------------------------------
When PENM option is "BeforeShell" ..
The profile is selected as "Dynamic IP".
The timeout is set to 15 seconds.

But the problem is that the mouse cursor is not visible.
Unable to select profile.

Also..
In the same way as PENM, my app would like to select something before the shell starts.

I created one application and run it.
Also, the mouse cursor is not visible and the selection is not possible.

Could I solve this?
----------------------------------

Thank you for your reply

Thank you for the reply

WIn10PE is a starter yet ..
Modify the Registry source in "Shell & Config"
I did what you told me, but I can not.

I solved it temporarily by another method ~ ^^
(Adjust order in pecmd.ini)

Thank you ~
Have a nice day ~

I'm sorry if you think so.

I just did not think I would share it because it was a temporary solution to make it too simple for me.

The mouse cursor and network should work well before the shell ..
In the pecmd.ini file, we only adjusted the order as shown below.

CALL OSInit
CALL PreShell
CALL Shortcuts
CALL NetInit
CALL Our_Tools
CALL LoadShell
CALL PostShell

Also, in the PreShell section, I uncommented winpeshl.exe as follows:

_SUB PreShell
// winpeshl.ini with [LaunchApp] AppPath = X: \ windows \ system32 \ wpeinit.exe
EXEC!% WinDir% \ system32 \ winpeshl.exe
EXEC!% SystemRoot% \ system32 \ wpeinit.exe

I found this method and it was what JFX was talking about .. ^^
Thank you JFX.

The Our_Tools section is the part that receives your mouse input.
There is no problem with the overall PE behavior.
Various Autorun.cmd sequences are affected.
In our Our_Tools section, we modified Autorun.cmd to run automatically.

It 's too simple, but like JFX, I did not share it because I thought more of it would be affected.

But with personal thoughts ..
I also think it's okay to have all the mouse cursor and network services activated before the shell.

Other autorun parts can be modified, even if they are adjusted later.

It was just my idea .. ^^

Thank you to all of you here ~
Have a nice day ~

You have to wait for the winpeshl.exe to end.
if you use pecmd.exe,
If you start with pecmd.exe and pecmd.ini
Pecmd.ini should start writing like this, exec =winpeshl.exe
