On my desktop fit currently 7 rows * 8 columns = 56 icons.

Since I installed meanwhile more than 70 programs (with all having a desktop icon) they do not fit onto the desktop any more.

How can I tell WinBuilder to reduce the gap between icons on desktop?

Maybe tehre is another solution on how to access the remaining, currently not visible icons on desktop?

You need to add this to the Registry for standard icon spacing.  This will allow for more icons on your desktop. (A couple more columns)

Code: [Select]
RegWrite,HKLM,0x1,"Tmp_Default\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics",IconSpacing,-1128

Better to use the Finals_Y\Additional Registry.script

First you need to enter your name and click the button on the right of Additional Registry, this will create a new AdditionalRegistry_YourName.script

There are instructions on the right pane for that script on how to add the above key.  Put the key into the [Registry_Main] section and you should be all set, the AdditionalRegistry script does all the work of loading and unloading different hives so you only need the 1 line shown above.

If you want another way access icons that are pushed off of your desktop try using explorer and browsing to your desktop, you will be able to access them all.

There are no available options for any of this in the script interface :confused: Icon size is set to "Small" by default and can be unchecked but this is already the smallest the icons can get without modification.

Also Icon Spacing is Hardcoded with no other value commented out to switch to(this isn't a premade option)  :confused:, shown below is line 636 and 637 of 1 - Explorer Shell.script

Code: [Select]
//- Horizontal IconSpacing: Standard
RegWrite,HKLM,0x1,"Tmp_Default\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics",IconSpacing,"-1710"

Regardless I do not recommend changing the value directly in the explorer shell script.  Additional Registry is better, it will maintain compatibility when you run exact and secure update without breaking your build (visually)

***EDIT

Lancelot has updated \Downloads\ComponentsY\Tweaks Explorer\Explorer IconSize - on the server.  Use this to modify spacing and icon size to get the most out of your desktop
  :great:
