since you do not need DUAppDat anymore, better wait a practical reason ....

Yes companies change things, sometimes dramatically, to us: effects plugin writing more complex in some cases....

and life goes :turtle:

Tried Firefox plugin and getting several errors. Can't select untill add your SumatraPDF to build.
Downloaded firefox prior to build uncheck fetch and still insists on downloading during build.
Build halted due to error "Stack is empty: [Run,%ScriptFile%,AddExts]".
Here's log file and a couple screenshots of settings.

  • PDF dependency: In WinBuilder check the Options tab, remove string "%ProjectDir%\Apps\Supplementary\Office\SumatraPDF_universal.script", from the Dependencies input field. I'll upload a new script version later.
  • In this case you are obliged to point it to a setup file (for Local Firefox exe installer (optional) - e.g. %GlobalTemplates%\Firefox_Files\setup.exe), otherwise the fallback option will occur (online download).

Update:
Updated scripts are available now. Most important change:
New option for adding Chrome extensions for SRWare Iron universal -- at last. :V:
Don't exaggerate, though; start with just a few first. Personally, I didn't test more than 5 with the script.

I like FireFox, haven't used IE for several years and I really like your script.
Done figured out download work around and PDF I want to include.
I was telling my experience in hopes to help others. What I can't figure out is
"Stack is empty: [Run,%ScriptFile%,AddExts]". This error stops the build.
Thanks

Can't retrace this stack message. Anyway, it easily happens that an "error" (even if not serious) stops a build.
Had this several times myself when I started (not having written scripts yet).
You can change that in WB (Options, options for log file).

Here I go again,  I feel so dumb sometimes, there's a download link for a firefox.7z halfway down 1st page.
I think you had posted trying to work out some bugs, well guess what, of course I downloaded it.
Beat me like a step child, just downloaded the correct version and ran with NO ERRORS.
Keep up the good work
Thanks Trashy

As I keep getting enquiries on compatibility with other (XP based) projects:
Galapo, could you confirm (basic) compatibility of the latest Firefox script version 11 with your project?

That would be helpful to know...

Postscriptum:
Lancelot & Galapo, I'm about to refactorateenhance code of my more popular scripts.
One of the most important items on my agenda will be consequent usage of ML.

Once when I started writing scripts I had no compatibility issues in mind. If they ran for Win7PESE (now Win8PESE), I was happy.
Now I receive enquiries for projects like LiveXP (is that a Gena predecessor/fork?) and a couple of others.
Thing is, I'd like to stay away from specific projects (I agree to Lancelot) but keep compatibility with other, better ones.

Are there compatibility issues using ML syntax in the Firefox/Iron.. scripts?

Gena supersedes (a lot) livexp
ps: we (Lancelot & Galapo) are also old maintainers of old livexp ( last update 2010 09 08 by us)
so tell enquiry owners to use Gena.

For others, as far as I know, SE projects supersedes all
well all wb projects out of theoven.org are death now, ashes to ashes
Exception: Some chinese guys come up with a SE edition package adding stuff they like which they are very good at, another exception Ruslive uses Gena as base. Also there is SE CopyCat around by an idiot with renaming project name, ah and there is a new wb which is totally incompatible to the ones we use..

Well, with exceptions and facts, there will be no trouble for your plugins

Hi Mikka,

As Lancelot said, we were both the maintainers of the LiveXP project for a long time. LiveXP was good at the time, but I don't know why anyone would still be using LiveXP, unless perhaps they haven't discovered Gena yet.

One thing about LiveXP times was the constant need for having to update scripts for compatibility for new WB versions. Often there was no understandable reason for why the syntax had changed etc. which necessitated the compatibility update. By using the cross-project compatible commands of ML, among other things, you can increase the chance of having a plugin that is compatible between the different projects here.

Regards,
Galapo.

Thank you, Lancelot and Galapo. It seems reasonable to ensure compatibility with Gena and WinxPESE.
(As to Win8.1SE, I'll see. Last time I checked, there were problems.)
So using the ML makes sense anyway.

Maybe users of my scripts (I know there are quite a few) give me feedback how they use it...

I am glad that you added new features to Winbuilder.  I went to your site and downloaded Firefox and SumatraPDF script.  I got this error message when activating the SumatraPDF script.
See the attachment jpg. Maybe you can tell me what happened.
Also Firefox worked great but when I went to help and about it wanted to start downloading newer version, which it does on regular windows.
Is there a way of stopping this from happening or just don't go to help and about?  Also you can post your newer scripts on this site.

Mark, you're right. Version 7 should work better, check it out.

@ChrisR: I'm not sure, they wrote they deliberately omitted stuff due to legal reasons.
IANAL, but maybe my script is not "impeccable" in this respect. But then, the c't edition
is not a release I'm aiming at.

Firefox stop the Winbuilder Program with this error message
RegRead - Failed to read specified key from: [HKLM]Section: [SOFTWARE\MozillaPlugins\@adobe.com/FlashPlayer]  Key: [Description] to variable:: [%FlashVer%]
Do I need to download FlashPlayer plugin?  I thought it would pull the flashplayer off of my Windows Machine?  I am using the FireFox version 13 script.
The  Sumatra PDF universal script version 7 worked.  Just need to sort out Firefox.  Any help would be great.
