Incidentally, I cleaned my bbq today.

What I did was I pulled it apart. I soaked the burners in hot water with detergent. Then I used a scourer and wet-and-dry standpaper to clean them. I scrubbed the inside of the bbq with hot water and detergent. For the grills, well they needed a bit more heavy-duty to get the hard stuff off. I took to it with a cold chisel -- highly recommended.

I only gave the hood a little rub -- better to leave it mostly alone for bbq flavour.

Good luck with your oven. We hardly have to clean our oven now. Oily stuff is kept well away and instead cooked in the bbq, which only has to be cleaned very irreguarly.

Regards,
Galapo.
